You can stir and roll any starchy solid this way. Amala, pounded yam, eba or semovita but I'm using pounded yam flour.
You need
- Rolling pin
- Medium pot
- Starchy solid, any of your choice
- Vegetable oil
- Clear plastic wrap
- Wooden stirring paddle
- Plastic calabash scoop
Boil the water on high heat. Cover the pot with a lid to make it boil a little bit faster. Turn down the heat once the water starts boiling.
|
Slowly pour the flour and stir continuously in a circular motion. |
Stop pouring the flour when it has covered the water, continue stirring until it's lump free. You could add more flour if there are still lumps.
|
Pour hot water into it and cook for about 3 minutes. Then continue stirring till it's smooth. |
Spread the veg. oil round the plastic wrap. Put the starchy solid on it and cover it with the other end.
|
With a rolling pin, roll over the wrap to flatten it. Let it be thin as shown in the picture above.
|
Remove the plastic wrap and start to roll with your hands. Start rolling gently from the wider end. |
And that's it, you can officially stir and roll any starchy solid! |
You can enjoy it with any soup of your choice. Nigerian bean soup, Ila Alasepo, Otong soup, Egusi soup, Okra soup, Efo riro |
